Be Cautious of Golden Retriever Dog Breeders

When you bring a Golden Retriever home, you do not just buy a pet but bring a new member into your family. You do not only invest money but you spend a lot of emotions and feelings while acquiring a Golden Retriever. Should anything go wrong about the pup/dog, with which you adorn your life, it surely is a pain for that lovely canine; but along with that it also hurts you and your family in a big way - financially, emotionally and sometimes even health wise.

Imagine discovering that your dog/pup has a genetic health problem and then succumbs to it, leaving your other pets or one of your children ill due to infection; or you helplessly find your pup growing into an unruly hound, with behavioural traits that just do not become of a true Golden. You can minimize - almost prevent - the chances of such mishaps by being careful while choosing the breeder.

It is important to buy from responsible breeders. With the immense popularity of the Golden breed, which is growing by the day, there is no dearth of Golden Retriever breeders who breed pups with the intention of producing the maximum numbers and thus earn more. For such breeders, their dams are no more than a puppy mill and the pups are only money bags in flesh and blood. They do not make efforts to mate only the best of purebred dogs to ensure producing best puppies. Even health is not a concern for them. They hardly take care to breed carefully, so as to eliminate/minimize the genetic disorders. Buying from such breeders will definitely not let you have a true Golden experience.

In order to ensure that you get the right, healthy and true Golden along with proper, correct and careful guidance, information and assistance, you should choose the breeder responsibly. Following are some suggestions that can help you decide if a breeder is good and responsible:

Go by the word of mouth. Good Golden Retriever Dog breeders will definitely have a respectful reputation among Golden owners. You can check with area kennel clubs, vets, local pet shops, etc.

A responsible breeder will be registered with a reputable Golden club like the AKC, etc. This will ensure that he is deeply involved with the Goldens and is well informed and knowledgeable about them.

He will not be hesitant to answer any type of questions regarding the pup's health, ancestry, living and birth conditions, etc. A responsible breeder will always be confident about all the aspects of breeding and will hence maintain transparency with the buyers.

He will be able to show both the parents of the pup. In case the father is from a distant kennel, all the details and photos will be available with the breeder. This will prove that he has used only the healthy and purebred adults to produce the pups.

He will be able to provide all the credentials regarding the purebred status of not only the pup, but also his parents and ancestors up to many generations.

Responsible Golden Retriever Dog breeders will be keen to know the details of the family; his Golden will be going to.

He will be full of information and tips regarding the Golden's adjustment into a new house.

A dog is born out of a dog, but what reflects in its temperament, disposition and health is actually the effort of a responsible breeder. Choose a responsible breeder and rest assured that the choices that follow would never go otherwise.

any tips for walking my golden retriever dog?
I'm 5'6 and i weight 140 lbs and i have a golden retriever that weights well easily more than half my weight, he is a big and really strong dog and i recently started o take the other dog for a walk every morning (he is smaller) and i wanna take him too because for some reason he is getting fat out of dog food (maybe because he is lazy) and i need some tips to deal with him because for what anyone would see when he stands next to me i could practically ride him! Thanks for the advice on the diet! he only eats once a day and we have a big backyard the problem is he is just lazy! my other dog is Schnauzer (jack) and he is very energetic and athletic, he always jumps and plays but the golden (chief) is always lazy and never wants to run, he likes being in water but there are no places where i can take him swimming around where i live =( thanks for the advice i hope it works or i'll be dragged around the block lol

how do I train my 1 year old dog to jump up onto the car?
My 1 year old golden retriever dog has always had a lot of trouble getting on the car. We know that he has the ability to get on because he is a big 80 lb dog. We have tried doggy steps but he just never seems to want to get on the car. Now, we use strong smelling treats to guide him on the car, but its just too annoying to always keep treats on the car. Our dog goes for the treats and puts his paws up onto the seat, but he seems to get on unwillingly, and we have to push his butt up to get him on the seat. It just seems like he doesn't want to get on! How can we train him to jump up onto the car by himself? Oh and I've tried the whole "looking excited" thing, but he just doesn't care! I tried screaming, banging on the seat, and throwing toys up in the air. Also, we do take him to lots of fun places like the beach, Peet's, the cafe, and to the park. Thank you so much for your answers! :)

What Does my dream mean?
I haven't seen this girl (I thought that was my best friend turned out to be something else ) since June 4th and I broke off our crappy friendship two weeks after that. I haven't thought of her ever since, Let's just call her "Logan" when I tell you about the dream. So I had this dream we were all sitting down in class like you know some ordinary day. Then this golden retriever dog came up to me and started you know playing with me & all my friends. But the dog had to leave and go to the next place, my friend Sydney told me "aww look at her, she looks lonely" then all of the sudden I see *Logan , he was like "yeah, Sam the dogs saying 'I miss you, I miss you" but *logan said it in a sad way, like "he" missed me or something. What does my dream mean? am I just feeling pain or do I know deep down inside that "Logan" misses me? :/
