When to be Concerned about Dog Vomiting

Dog vomiting: it happens! Most dogs vomit regularly for a number of reasons that are no reason for immediate concern or alarm. Here are some instances where you do not need to race off to your veterinarian because of your dog vomiting:

  • Overeating: if your dog tends to wolf down his food, then feed him smaller and more frequent meals to try and eliminate any recurrences of dog vomiting
  • Eating Grass: Dogs frequently eat grass to induce vomiting themselves. This can be due to a number of reasons, though most often it is because some foreign object has been consumed
  • Inappropriate food: If your pet has eaten or been fed a new or inappropriate food item, he may very well vomit. Try to reduce any feeding of table scraps and do not change your dog's regular food too often

Dog vomiting may occur due to dog diseases, dog food allergies, if a dog has a foreign object lodged in the back of his throat, if they have a birth defect that causes dog vomiting, or they may have a poorly conditioned esophageal muscle.

When is it Serious?

Though dog vomiting is often nothing serious, there are some instances when it is a sign of a very serious problem. If your dog is vomiting more than once a day, then your dog is at risk for dehydration. A good rule of thumb is that if your dog happens to vomit three times or more in a day, then that calls for an appointment with your vet to be made.

If you notice any blood in the vomit or any other odd colors, then that is also a clear sign that your dog needs to go and see the veterinarian.

How can I Prevent Dog Vomiting?

If you happen to have a "chronic vomiter", that is a dog who vomits more than once a week, then it's time to look at what may be causing your dog to vomit. As mentioned earlier, if your dog tends to gulp down his meals, then it may be a good time to star t breaking down his meals into smaller portions. Always provide a lot of water for your pet.

Should your dog seem to vomit after he eats grass, try to limit the amount of grass he is able to consume and talk to you vet about any other issues that may be causing your pet to be trying to induce vomiting.

Opposers of Jehovah?s Witnesses: Have you ever wondered why you get thumbed down for positive statements?
This used to perplex me. For example, someone asked how much the Jehovah?s Witnesses get paid to distribute literature, and I said that they "do it on an entirely volunteer basis." Right away, I got so many thumbs down that my answer was hidden from view. And then I read what one of the Jehovah?s Witnesses recently posted: ?When I scroll down and see that I have blocked an opposer or apostate, I just thumb them down and don't even read what they have said ? as I know it's all lies and twisted sayings of Satan.? Doesn?t this mentality strike you as one of the defining marks of brainwashed idiocy? This black-and-white frame of mind is fascinating to me in the sense that everyone is dichotomized into two camps: ?true worshippers of Jehovah? or ?dog-vomit loving Satan worshippers.? Why do think this way? Were they mental midgets prior to joining the tower or did the WTS system socialize them to ?leave their brains at the door?? @ Matthew 4:10. I give JWs thumbs up frequently and best answer as well. Would you like me to list a few hundred questions where I?ve give the best answer to one of the Jehovah?s Witnesses. I can do that.

Is my bird having an affair with my pitt bull?
I have an African Grey parrot and three pit bulls. One of my dogs would not be the kind to like a bird, but I have observed my dog kissing and licking my birds beak and my bird was kissing my dog like he kisses us. The weirdest thing is my birds food has red dye inside of it and my dog vomited the birds food dye. Are my animals having an affair, is my bird feeding my dog or is she trying to scam food off of him?

My dog is vomiting, i believe it is due to switching him to new food?
My dog is 2 and a half years old. He had been eating Royal Canin forever but i switched him to PurinaOne Smartblend food. Anyhow, i had only fed him like 10% of the new food and 90%of the old food...for the last few days but noticed he vomited today. I'm guessing it's the new food? Do dogs vomit when they are switched to new food? Anyways, needless to say i called Purina, got a refund and will stay with his old food Royal Canin. I was hoping to save some money since this food is so expensive but oh well.

Jehovah?s Witnesses: Isn?t it a tad bit rude to call people apostates, dog-vomit-lovers, & whores of Babylon?
Personally, I find such epithets extremely funny. But I was never one of the Jehovah?s Witnesses, and so I don?t have to be constantly reminded of former friends and family members who hate me with a vengeance. If, for example, my son was refusing to speak with me because I had ?left the JW truth,? then being called an ?apostate,? ?Satan worshipper,? or "cancerous growth on the butt" would be a distressing and downright sorrowful experience. It would remind me of how much my children hate me at the command of a publishing company located in Brooklyn, NY. So has it ever occurred to you that Trinitarians may be genuine and quite sincere in their beliefs? If so, what good will it do to call them worshippers of a ?three-headed-pig God? or ?spiritual weeds ripe for destruction?? Many of us, who have become accustomed to your over-the-top rhetoric, simply chuckle when you call non-JWs ?mentally diseased? and awaiting ?righteous slaughter? by Jehovah. But there are many people out there are strongly offended by your continual name-calling. Will you make a commitment, right here and now, to stop calling non-JWs ?Satan worshippers? on Yahoo Answers?
