Any foods that will stimulate the appetite? Dog - Loss of Appetite due to Antibiotics?
My 11 month old lab is recovering from a bacterial infection and is on antibiotics. She has no appetite. Is there anything you can suggest to stimulate appetite besides chicken liver and broth? I've tried almost everything I can think of.

Dogs: Loss of appetite while nursing pup?
My dog just had 2 puppies, but she seems to have lost appetite. She barely eats anything and her dog food bowl is still filled from the day she gave birth (Monday). Is this normal behavior?
(I switched her normal regular dog food to a mix of puppy and regular food as advised by my vet.)
I'm planning on taking her in tomorrow, but was wondering anyone know what's wrong with her (it's 1:20AM Saturday morning right now where I am, so I won't be able to see the vet until morning.)

No, she didn't only have 2. We "lost" 2 because she was way too stressed out after birthing (or so my vet says).
She's not old. In fact, she's only 3.
She's also drinking water like normal though. Just not eating dog food (she has bites of cooked ham or chicken and some dog food that's super saturated in dog-formula milk or water). Could the food just be too "tough" or "hard" for her to chew (even puppy food)?
Should I switch to canned dog food? (is there a difference?)

Concerned about my dog loss of appetite while on prednisone. My dog started taking prednisone on 4/22/2008.?
The dose is 20 mg. She was on 1 1/2 tablets for the first 10 days, then 1 tablet for the next 10 days, and now we are at 1 tablet every other day for 14 days. Then she will do 1/2 tablet every other day until 3 months. My concern is, at first she would eat all of her food. She was not begging for more but she would eat 2 meals a day no problem and would lick the bowl clean. Then, I started adding chicken and brocolli, and spinach to her food and she ate it up. All of a sudden, she didn't want that. I put chicken and spinach in with her kibble just like before and she didn't want to eat it. I started to give her canned food and at first she had no problem eating it right away. Now, she's not eating that. I have to entice her to eat by putting chicken or turkey in her food and she still don't eat much. Prednisone is suppose to stimulate appetites, that's why I'm worried. She goes to the vet on Wed. She had a mast cell tumor. I thank God it hasn't come back. N E suggestions on what to do?

dog loss of appetite (vet techs or experienced please)?
My dog is on PPA for a bladder problem. recently she has had a loss of appetite for her regular food. She'll take a treat, and even the pill pocket that the pill is in, but hasn't really touched her food. I think the only reason she ate yesterday (and even then the food had been out all day the day before) was because i put parmesean cheese on it. The first day i thought it was because she hadn't been active... i was at an 8 hour meeting and she just had a walk that day (about 15 min, i was pretty tired). But yesterday she went to the dog park, and today she went for two long walks. I'm gonna call the vet tomarrow, but was hoping to get an answer tonight. She is acting fine, drinking fine, playing fine, sleeping fine. Everything but the eating. She is an 11 month old lab.
She is on Innova puppy, she is at the end of the bag (could it be stale it's in an air tight container bought at petsmart specifically for dog food... not a cheap one either). I've bought adult to switch her once the bag is done. both are hard food... i don't want to put her on soft food (heard it's bad for their teeth to not crunch and it's too expensive for me)

Sick Dog - Loss of appetite and lethargic?
Our 3 year old Shih Tzu is not feeling well. For the last 24 hours, he has been very lethargic and will not eat. Has only had a couple drinks of water, which were coaxed. All he wants to do is lay down, which is very unusual for him. His stool and pee this afternoon were normal looking. He does not have a fever, and is not coughing, sneezing or vomiting. His abdomen is not sensitive, but his mid back spinal area seems a slight bit sensitive. Prior to the onset of this problem, he had not consumed anything out of the ordinary that we know of (just dry dog food) and he has had no other past health problems. We plan to take him to the vet tomorrow if he's not better, but are worried tonight.
