Dogs Itching
Four Common Causes of Dog Itching and Scratching
There are a wide variety of things that can cause dog itching. This condition can become very uncomfortable for your pet, and can sometimes be difficult to find the root of the problem. Some of the most common causes include parasites, infection, allergies, and diet. This article will discuss some of these causes of dog itching.
Parasites
Parasites are commonly to blame when your dog experiences itching. Although the it can occur all over the body, ticks and fleas can can localized itching. Besides fleas and ticks, other parasites that can cause this condition include ear mites, scabies, and lice.
Infection
One of the next common causes of dog itching is an infection. These skin infections are commonly referred to as hot spots. They are very painful to your dog and can produce pus and a bad smell. Your dog's hair may also fall out around the affected area. This hair loss occurs because your dog will scratch or bite at the spot so much that it will fall out.
Allergies
Like humans, dogs can also suffer from allergies. Your dog can be allergic to almost anything in the environment. He may be allergic to his food dish, pollen, or his bedding. Some dogs are also very allergic to even a single bite from a flea. Since there can be so many things your dog is allergic to, it is often difficult to diagnose his exact allergy.
Diet
One of the final common causes of dog itching and scratching is diet. This may be the case if your dog experience generalized instead of localized itching. This is one of the easiest causes to cure, as you simply need to change your dog's diet to get rid of the problem.

Cat and Dog itching Problems?
So i have both a cat and dog, and they both have an itching problem. My dog looks as if he has crusty patches of skin over his body, and my cat is itching himself until he bleeds on his neck region. I've done my research and think that both of them has fleas, but my mom just thinks our dog has hot spots and our cat has ear mites. Any suggestions?

Why is my dog itching constantly?
She has small bumps all across her back and she is itching CONSTANTLY. She's been scratching these small bumps all night. Could it be fleas? Maybe a bacterial infection? I got a bug bite last night, but I don't know if it was from a flea or from a mosquito (we have a lot of those right now). I took her on a walk through some trails yesterday, maybe she could've picked up something? I also put some Frontline medicine on her less than a month ago. Please help! She's suffering alot! Thank you!
My other dog, who walked the same trail, is having no problems. He had Frontline put on him less than a week ago.

can flea dips make your dog itch?
I gave my dog a flea dip at home, I followed the directions on the bottle on how much water to add, now she is itching like crazy. I rinsed OFF that stupid FLEA DIP thing thinking that was the problem, but she continues to itch (not as much or as vigorous as before) but itches way more than usual. She also seems very depressed, she is not eating well, she is a potty trained dog, but every time I take her to potty she just looks at me and cries. She used to pee at least 6-7 times a day now she goes only 2-3 times a day. Also, she used to howl and mess around and play chase with us, but now she looks like she doesn't know what the heck we're doing when we try to do that with her. I miss my puppy, the way she used-to-be! :(

Yorkshire Terrier , 6 years old... HEALTH PROBLEMS?
I have a medium female Yorkshire Terrier , 6 years old. Every now and then a problem develops , which worries me alot. Pimples appear with a crust over them and it seems that they're making the dog itching. This is worsening the problem as while the dog itches the pimples patches of hair loss seem to appear. I have taken my dog to the vet several times, though the problems seems to pop over and over again inspite of various medications. Can you give me an advice please? Thanks alot!
So the pimples are situated mostly on her back and her belly .. She eats mostly dried food and yes her bowls are stainless steel and washed every single day !.. The medication consisted of steroids and injections. But unfortunately nothing seems to work on my poor dog !
