My Dog Has Diarrhea

My Dog Has DiarrheaIf you have been struggling to find the answer to your query, "why does my dog has diarrhea", this piece of information on treating diarrhea in dogs and puppies will be useful to provide relief to your pet.

Before we read any further, it is important for us to note that all dogs suffer from diarrhea at one point or another in their life. This could be possibly due to your pet scavenging on spoiled food, rich table scraps, or dead animals. The fact that dogs are not always sensible about what they eat easily mean that they can end up with diarrhea despite you keeping close checks on them.

When my dog has diarrhea, I usually try to find out the reason behind the complication rather than taking him straight to the vet. This not only helps in identifying the root cause of the problem, but is also helpful in avoiding similar incidents in the future.

The best way to help your pet is by seeking the help of a qualified veterinarian. This is simply because there could not be anything better than medical advice. It is highly recommended that you accompany your pet when visiting the vet as this is about a life which is so precious.

You can even try making the pet fast (no food and no water) for 24 hours so that his intestines get enough time to settle down. However, this approach cannot be followed with puppies. In order to provide relief to your dog, you can provide a bland diet of boiled rice or low-fat cooked ground meat after the fasting. You can even try giving a few teaspoons of canned pumpkin for a few days to your pet instead of the regular food. It is always better to keep your dog well hydrated. You can even try milk thickened with arrowroot or include boiled hamburger or white fish boiled in milk with the rice so that your pet doesn't feel like a patient.

When my dog has diarrhea, I want the best thing so that relief can come easy and fast to him and I am sure that this approach also goes with you. Since there just could not be any delays, it is always good to seek medical advice at the earliest whenever you think that your dog has diarrhea. All in all, it is all about caring about your pet and there just could not be any delays.

Do any of the designer dog breed names make you...?
When you see some of these designer breed names, do they make you think of something totally different than the dog it is supposed to represent? Ok, I must be in a very odd mood today because I'm thinking of stupid stuff. But, honestely, when I see some of these breeds, it makes me think of goofy stuff. Shih Poo makes me think of a dog with diarrhea. Pom-Chi makes me think of 70's porn music... Pom-chi ka bow wow. Hahaha!! Michael Jackson, oh for real! I have tears in my eyes! What's with the thumbs down? This is a personal opinion question. Go elsewhere with your thumbs. That "teacup" pom-chi looks like a fluffy chipmunk. Not the dogs fault, I know. And, yes, doodles & oodles and anything -chi is a mutt. Please star! I am having such a good time reading these answers that I'd love to see more!

How to cook rice for a dog?
My dog seems to have a bit of an upset stomach, her poops started out sorta soft this morning and have just gotten softer through the day. And shes had quite a few accidents in the house today, but that's not totally out of the ordinary for her. Shes eating fine, in fact She had her normal meal this afternoon and is currently begging for more food or treats. Ive read a few different things online for dogs with diarrhea, rice and pumpkin seem to be the most popular. I cant get any pumpkin till morning, but i could make her some rice.. but I'm not sure how to cook it? Ive never cooked just regular rice before. and have no idea how it should be cooked for a dog. Any advice? Thanks Candace Just the answer i was looking for. I was wondering tho, would it be better to overcook it alittle?

Sick dog with Diarrhea...?
My dog, who is about 8 or 9 has been sick since Thanksgiving. She only felt better one day and that day was a couple days after Thanksgiving. The day before, my sister had given her these flat, squared, meat-ish dog treats that apparently made her feel much better. But, the day after, she started feeling sick again until today. She had bloody diarrhea and vomit, but she only had diarrhea and vomitted earlier today and hasn't for the rest of the day. She's been very tired and listless and hadn't eaten all day and wouldn't eat. But, when I gave her those same treats, she, again, started feeling much better. Is there something in the treats that causes her to get better? Because we put them in a container and threw away the packaging the treats were in, so we don't know the ingrediants. She drinks a lot of water during the day and will only eat certain things that I feed her. She only gets better whenever I feed her random stuff like dog treats or fully cooked, boneless Chicken.

Dog with diarrhea, vomiting, barking cough?
I have an 18 month old Chocolate Lab. We rescued him three months ago (Sept. 20) from a rescue organization after he'd been in a shelter where he was going to be euthanized. The whole time we've had him, Brutus has had slightly loose stools and he drinks a LOT - at least a gallon of water a day. Other than that, though, he is very healthy and energetic. Yesterday, he developed severe diarrhea and vomited a couple of times. We took him to the vet who prescribed an intestinal antibiotic (Flagyl), a probiotic, and a bland diet. He also said we could give Immodium (1-1/2 pill 3x/day) as needed. He is running fecal and urine cultures today, but I haven't gotten the results yet. He was tested for heartworm by the rescue org. and came back clean, and he's had Heartguard every month since we got him. He is a healthy weight and is still hungry and thirsty despite his illness. He is slighly quieter than normal yesterday and today, but doesn't seem excessively depressed or lethargic. Today, Brutus has also developed a cough. It sounds just like kennel cough: a mean, barking cough followed by "foaming"/retching. Does anyone have suggestions? Do I need to go back to the vet for this latest symptom?

What to do with dog with diarrhea that won't stop.?
My dog has been getting diarrhea on and off for the past month. She's not acting sick other then that. She's only had diarrhea one other time and I gave her some pumpkin pie filling and that cleared it up. I don't want to take her to the vet just so they can run a bunch of tests just to tell me nothing's wrong. I guess I'm just trying to see if anyone has a clue to what might be wrong or if I should take he in.
