When to be Concerned about Dog Vomiting
Dog vomiting: it happens! Most dogs vomit regularly for a number of reasons that are no reason for immediate concern or alarm. Here are some instances where you do not need to race off to your veterinarian because of your dog vomiting:
- Overeating: if your dog tends to wolf down his food, then feed him smaller and more frequent meals to try and eliminate any recurrences of dog vomiting
- Eating Grass: Dogs frequently eat grass to induce vomiting themselves. This can be due to a number of reasons, though most often it is because some foreign object has been consumed
- Inappropriate food: If your pet has eaten or been fed a new or inappropriate food item, he may very well vomit. Try to reduce any feeding of table scraps and do not change your dog's regular food too often
Dog vomiting may occur due to dog diseases, dog food allergies, if a dog has a foreign object lodged in the back of his throat, if they have a birth defect that causes dog vomiting, or they may have a poorly conditioned esophageal muscle.
When is it Serious?
Though dog vomiting is often nothing serious, there are some instances when it is a sign of a very serious problem. If your dog is vomiting more than once a day, then your dog is at risk for dehydration. A good rule of thumb is that if your dog happens to vomit three times or more in a day, then that calls for an appointment with your vet to be made.
If you notice any blood in the vomit or any other odd colors, then that is also a clear sign that your dog needs to go and see the veterinarian.
How can I Prevent Dog Vomiting?
If you happen to have a "chronic vomiter", that is a dog who vomits more than once a week, then it's time to look at what may be causing your dog to vomit. As mentioned earlier, if your dog tends to gulp down his meals, then it may be a good time to star t breaking down his meals into smaller portions. Always provide a lot of water for your pet.
Should your dog seem to vomit after he eats grass, try to limit the amount of grass he is able to consume and talk to you vet about any other issues that may be causing your pet to be trying to induce vomiting.

What are some causes of a dog vomitting?
He has been throwing up this clear stuff. He is still wagging his tale and seems happy but he is less energetic and sleeps alot. He is drinking and eating some.

Dog vomitting and had diarreah with blood in it? is this a serious concern?
I have a 2 yr old male lhasa-poo who was vomitting this morning (bile) and when cleaning up his diarreah i noticed there was clumbs of gooey blood in it (a significant amount) and grass ,he hasnt had anymore bowel movements since but still gags every now and then he has puked times since 9 this morning and he isnt acting wierd or anything just laying around but if we try to play with him he is responsive. im just wondering is this normal for him to have blood in his stool or is this a serious concern? (vet a.s.a.p?)

Does my dog vomitting warrant a trip to the vet's office?
We've been on vacation for 3 days at my mother's home. Since 1am, both of my dogs have been vomitting yellow, stringy slime. They are eating, urinating, and having bowel movements as normal.
Is this just a stomach bug or perhaps something my dogs have caught from the other dogs in the home? Should I call the vet's emergency number? Wait until morning and hope to get an appointment?

Dog vomitting up blood?
He's old, and almost lame. He had a blood test 3 weeks ago that gave the all clear, he was booked in againat vets next week for a follow up, but he seems to have got worse in the last 2 weeks.
He can't walk for more than 5 mins without falling down and being unable to get up. He was a bit incontenant, but now he doesn't even wake up to poo. The other day, i came down stairs and he was shaking uncontrollably and when he finally stood up, he was urinating....
Is the bloody vomit anything serious or can it be common? He's going top vet in a few hours, but i'm really scarred.....
He's 14 and not even had breakfast yet. Going to vet in an hour now. He is completely lucid, which is why it's so upsetting

dog vomitting after barking?
This has happened a few times so I thought I would ask. Lola is a 11 month of Shih Tsu. A few times we have noticed that she will vomit her food with in a few minutes of "intense" barking. For example....today she ate breakfast at 7:20 and was totally fine. We went on our first walk and she was fine. Around 9 I took her out again and there was a dog across the street that she "intensly" started barking at. Less then 10 minutes later we were back inside and she threw up her breakfast. Has anybody else experienced this? Could the meal I'm giving her be too large?
It's almost like if I ate a huge meal and went to a roller coaster.
Any thougts on how to prevent this? We are working on the barking / socializing thing with her.
