Getting Rid Of Dog Skin Problems
Many dog owners are having a problem with dog skin problems which comes in the form of a constant itch or skin infections. The only remedy pet owners think they have is going to see their local veterinarian not knowing that there are simple steps they should consider. Pet owners already know their vet is only going to prescribe medications that will work but only lasts as long as the prescription lasts. Once the prescription runs out, the Dog Skin Problems return. This can be very frustrating for any pet owner who loves their pet dog.
Honestly, the key to ridding your pet of Dog Skin Problems is not with prescriptions but with observation. You want to know exactly what is causing your dog to have an itch or to have a skin breakout. The average pet owner doesn't realize that their dogs skin problems most of the time is the result of something they are doing or are not aware of. The vet should tell pet owners this but they don't. It's easier for them to prescribe the dog prescriptions rather than offer preventive tips.
If you are noticing reoccurring dog skin problems, the first thing you should do before you see a vet is to analyze the types of foods you've been giving your dog. For your particular breed of dog, certain dog treats he may not be able to eat. Many of the popular dog treats that you find in stores have a lot of preservatives in them that agitate dogs and cause Dog Skin Problems. This is the first thing you want to consider with your dog. Make sure you research the ingredients in the dog food and dog treats to determine if it causes the dog skin problems. You can also research the brand of dog food to see if other pet owners have experienced the same problems.
Another tip to consider is the material your dog sleeps on or lies on. This could be a big contributing factor to your dog skin problems. There are a number of reasons to be considered that will ultimately stop the problems you are seeing in your dog. Sure the vet can give your pet a shot or prescription but there are other measures you can take to stop some of your dogs problems yourself with a little observation.

Why is my dog losing hair?
I have an 8 year old, short red haired, miniature dachshund. Over the course of the last 5 months he has started losing hair. It started with hair loss on the end of his ears and has progressed to sports of hair loss over most of his body. Over the last few weeks I noticed spots of black hair appearing on his back which is now falling out. The tips of his ears are dry and there are small scabs on the tops of his ears. The bald spot skin is mildly scaly and there are patches of dark skin in some areas, including under his armpitts. He does not smell and is not itching. He is his same old happy self! I have been researching dog skin problems and read somewhere that problems can be caused by allergic reactions. Looking back....I think that there maybe be a chance that this started around about the time we got hima woolen cover that he sleeps under. Do you think this may be causing his skin and hair problems? or could it be something worse?
Thanks for any heklp given.

dog skin problems?
I took a dog from an elderly relative about seven months ago. She is a bearded collie but her hair wasn't the straight fluffy type (far from it). In fact, her hair had grown like a sheep and was knotted all over her body and she had fleas underneath.
We shaved the dog to a short fur and i have bathed her 2-3 times a week since. Her fur has mostly grown straight and fulffy now and she seems happy.
However, she has developed a bald patch on her back, which has gone black. She isn't scratching and doesn't show any signs that it's itching and it is in a position on her back where she couldn't have scratched on bit at it..
we have seen a vet who said it was most likely vitamins in her old age, but i really am worried it could be worse.
Any thoughts?

URGENT- My dogs skin problem?
My 2 year old female lab has been itching her sides alot latly. She also got a bald spot on her leg, which was small. There was a little blood (I think she was licking it) but now it is clean, and is improving. Now she has a larger bald spot on her tail. There is no rash or anything, it is just white. I am worried because she is sooo itchy. She looks misreble. What do you think it is? Should we go to the vet?
i don't think it is food allergies- she had an allergy to her food, and got an ear infection. Now she eats this organtic, very healthy ( and expensive) stuff.

dog skin problem?
My 4 months year old dog seems to have a skin problem. The vet THINKS it might be ingrown hairs, but there was only one then. Now theres more. They are on his neck and part of his back. They're kinda like scabs, but they feel like little bumps. They are not large. Around his agitated skin, the hairs are kinda tipped witha redbrown stuff at the base, giving them the appearance of scabs. What is this?
we're taking him back to the vet, but if you have any idea of what it is, please tell me!
month not year sorry
