Dog Pets are Therapy for Seniors!

Dog Pets have earned the title "man's best friend." They deserve the claim for their dependability and obedience over the centuries. A house may appear empty to the ordinary passer-by, but if there is a dog in residence, it is awaiting the arrival of the man or woman of the home from their day's activities. You can bank on it!

The dog guards the empty house and keeps its ears attuned for the first sounds of your arrival. Suddenly, the human owner opens the door and they find themselves smothered with affection bestowed by their dog. Emporers of ancient times never felt such adoration.

Sometimes, the world turns on us for whatever reason, but our loyal dog pet never will. He stands with us no matter what the future brings.

We award them with special, personal names. We lovingly call them Prince, Sheba, Fido or any number of appellations. We create complete personalities and natural attitudes around the names we give them.

It usually doesn't matter what the dog breeds are. We don't care if they are a small dog that we can carry in a purse, coat pocket or in our arms.

They might even be a large dog that requires education with dog etiquette, and how to conduct itself on a leash.

Medical researchers tell us that the reality they're dogs actually blurs in our minds.

As time passes, and we interact with them everyday, we attribute to them personalities befitting humans. They become virtual people in our thinking. We gradually forget they're animals, and we begin to see them as almost human friends.

There is a very powerful and proven reason for this...listen to this little known fact. Science tells us this can be a very therapeutic arrangement. Seniors particularly can benefit immensely in an ongoing partnership with a dog pet.

How many ways can you count to explain why we live with a dog.

They plaster hair over all the furniture, and particularly on your favorite dark suit or dress that you wear only on special occasions.

It seems they always want to go outside at extremely inappropriate times. For example, at ten o'clock on a rainy Friday night, Prince scratches at the door to announce he wants, and needs, to go outside.

Why would you want to share your life with a dog pet and put up with its diverse, and sometimes irritating habits?

The answer is simple...we need them in our personal worlds to make our lives more bearable.

Do you miss the energy and life of young people and the joy they generate? Have your kids moved on to their own universes and no longer intrude on yours as much as you would like them to?

Do you crawl out of bed each morning and wonder how you will fill the hours until the end of the new day? Do you welcome the air conditioning unit turning on and off because it breaks the endless silence of an empty house?

Scientists have reasearched the subject. They have documented the very real symbiotic partnership that develops between humans and their Dog Pets.

Let's take them one by one!

1.Research has proved that pet and owner share a mutual need for each other and both profit from the arrangement.

2.A person's mental and physical health demonstrate a marked improvement once a dog pet comes to live in the household.

5.The ownership reliance requirement on the human increased the pet owner's need to become more enthused and aware of their own personal welfare.

The research indicated that the dog pet inspired a sense of feeling needed and a surging sense of increased self value in the senior human owner.

The report brought out that the senior owners particularly developed an enthusiastic desire to face each day. The dog pet had a fixed schedule for its needs and the owner found it a necessary routine to be followed each day.

If you're a dog pet owner, sometimes you may feel that they're just too much trouble, and take up too much of your time.

When that happens, just give Butch an extra doggy treat for supper, and an added ear scratch.

Why? Because it's very good for your mental and physical health. And if you're a senior, it just may go a long way in curing your ailments!

Should fireworks be banned?
They're loud, they are dangerous, they disrupt people they scare cats/dogs/pets, they scare children and adults alike. They leave empty cartridges everywhere. They sound like bombs! I don't have any headphones that block it out, urgh! I don't have an issue with organised firework displays, just personal use of them.

Is your dog's (YOUR WATER!) Safe to drink?
After reading countless posts and questions plus replies concerning what you feed your dog; I think it is way past the time where dog/pet owners examine the quality of our dog's drinking water! This subject is perhaps one of the easiest to respond to, (and least expensive) to respond to! SO IT'S ABOUT TIME FOLKS! The 1st step in checking out the stuff that we call "drinking water". HAVE YOU ACTUALLY SMELLED/TASTED THE WATER ITSELF? Does it smell from chlorine? I have been in homes where the odor of tap water simply smells like a swimming pool! I mean, like really over whelming!!! I guess the people and animals living there had simply gotten used to it! Have you given thought to the meds (like antibiotics,other prescription stuff., poisons...even aspirin? I am keeping this post relatively short on purpose, as I am sure.you can see where it is taking us!!!! :( Time to ask...WHAT YOU CAN DO??? 1) The 1st thing to do is get a report from the local municipality on the quality of what we are drinking? 2) get some of those cheapo water test strips from the local drug stores) 3)get a clean glass and simply look into the water drawn from the tap! (want to really get scared....CHECK OUT A SLIDE OF THE LOCAL WATER AT YOUR CHILDREN'S SCHOOL'S MICROSCOPE!!! ) This does not even include illegal drugs and chemicals IN OUR DRINKING WATER!!!!! Next in line, is Fluoride! This chemical was original put into our drinking water back in the 50's to rid out water of "nasties" that were found to be lurking! Turns out the cure was almost as bad as the Most tap water from the modern home is really "over processed" and has way too many chemicals in it. To make the 1st step is really simply. Just buy those little bottles of paper test strips, that change colors depending on just what it is looking for! (as in chemicals,DRUGS, ) etc!!!! IT IS NOT MY INTENTION TO BE OVER OVERLY DRAMATIC HERE, BUT SIMPLY TO CHECK OUT what we are giving our dogs to drink! YES, I absolutely agree with those that feel a good quality food AND a SAFE water (AND DISH! NO PLASTIC, and no dishes with fancy decorative artwork adorning the Stainless Steel or ceramic feed/water dishes that we use! Time for a few solutions that can cost anywhere from $1 to thousands! 1st thing....BOIL the WATER 1st ! Let it condense and put the condensed liquid out for your dog to drink! Next ONLY use a SS or clean ceramic bowl for feed time! Next: Always have fresh water Ready for your dog to drink! (water should be a bit below room temperature) Change the water regularly. These are the really simple and cheap"ways" out! What to do? The water in the small city that I live in is really the "pits" Real life solutions wise! Some here may think the following is a bit "much" but I have been using RO (Reverse Osmosis) water treatment for years for both my dogs and for me!!!! : I Think mine cost me about $275 USD (for the unit, inc 1 set of filters) and the yearly costs of RO filters. Reverse Osmosis systems can cost between $200 (USD) and upwards, depending on what you are buying. (NOTE: RO systems waste about 2-3 times of water produced for that which is actually made that is good to drink! There are many grades of RO systems out there too Mine is a fairly simple 4 stage "system" Yearly costs (Just for me and my 55 lb Border Collie) About $100 per year in water costs (about 3/3 of that is waste water! About $100 (2 filter changes + membrane cost broken out separately) (2x2 filters /yr= $60 Filters include: sediment filter, carbon pre-filter, carbon post filters AND THE BIGGIE! $75-$100 FOR A NEW MEMBRANE (depending on usage and just how dirty the water is prior to cleaning) YOU USUALLY CHANGE THE MEMBRANE ONCE EVERY 2-3 YRS!!! MAJOR side benefit is taste of your coffee or tea, DEPENDING ON WHICH SIDE OF THE POND YOU LIVE ON! LOL Dunfilly...No I am not starting a business or maybe I would have tried to sneak in a name or something of the sorts! LOL. In my area, (NW USA) we have a situation, with ground water that is loaded with arsenic. To make it worse...It used to be a Mining area that still contains chemicals from a day long since passed! MOST simple water filters will not get at the stuff I am talking about. In the affected areas, a lot of folks have either gone to bottled water of RO. Always thought Bottled was a poor choice for my purposes, so its RO for me and my own dog!

I put this together what do you think? With this I have a picture of the floor plan. Roommates Needed. Bills Paid Under $200/m - $188.75 Two bedrooms, two bath upstairs Tennyson Arms Apartment. All Bills Paid except for water. It has a dishwasher, On-sight Laundry services, and a pool. Each bedroom has a closet and the master bedroom has a personal bathroom. It?s been kept smoke free since I?ve been living here. I?m a college student renewing my lease and will need three new roommates by the beginning of June. With two to a room rent will be $188.75 + split water bill for each person. Space available, I?m looking for another female roommate to room with me and share the hallway bathroom as well. I have a twin bed frame you can use (no mattress) or if you have a twin bed frame of your own that?s great too. The master bedroom equipped with a personal bathroom is empty and I?m looking for either two girls or a couple to make it their own. So i have a job and i dont know how to price it!?
Right i just got a job for helping elderly people round my road and basically i need prices for these jobs; remember there is a recession on so i will have to make it cheaper and they are old so it cant be too much money! - Gardening - Planting + Taking out the weeds etc. - Cleaning (Dusting, Polishing, washing up, etc.) - Shovelling Snow + Raking Leaves - Washing Cars - Going up to the local shop (For the Paper, Milk, etc.) -Walking Pets (Dogs) - Pet Sitting So reasonable prices please... and remeber im only 13 and i want to be nice so the tip me ahah thanks:) xxx
