How to Tell if Your Dog is Sick

Your dog can't explain his symptoms to you when he feels bad, so it's your responsibility to take care of him and to understand when your dog is feeling bad. Just exactly how do you do that you may ask?

Well, the best thing I can suggest to you is to know exactly how your dog acts when it is feels good. If you know this you should be able to tell when your dog is really sick and you'll be able to easily answer your own question - " Is my dog sick?"

What is a symptom? Whenever your dog is sick or feels bad he will usually exhibit some sort of symptom that he does not feel up to par. Some common symptoms you may see your dog exhibit when it feels bad include: vomiting, diarrhea, stumbling, seizing, drooling, not eating, limping, etc.

It's simple overall. Just remember that some symptoms, such as seizures, collapse or any kind of difficulty in breathing should always receive a prompt a veterinary exam - immediately. If there is ever any doubt about the seriousness of any particular symptom, please contact your veterinarian or local veterinary emergency facility. Explain the symptom your dog is having and ask for their advice. Better safe than sorry I always say.

Your dogs health should be extremely important to you so watch carefully for any symptoms your dog may exhibit closely and be aware of what you should do in response. It's important to be able to tell whether or bot your dog is sick.

dog is sick any help is appreciated?
For the past 2-3 days now my dog's got diarrhea and he has been real tired and he's easily cold/shivers alot ive given him chicken/rice to eat otherwise he wont eat anything else, everytime i walk him he stops to go and its usually a lil diarrhea and than he sits there and squeezes for like 5-10 mins until his bottom is really sore,nothing comes out though. I have to end up carrying him back home from our walk because he wont stop trying to go. I dont know what else to do ive been trying to get him to drink plenty of water im taking him to the vet thursday im just wondering what else i could do, any help is appreciated. He's a Westy terrier btw.

My dog is sick but what's wrong?
OK, So I have a 10 - 15lb Jack Russell Terrier who is 9 years old in June. She has recently (the past two weeks or so) started to get a really bad stomach ache. She started with really loud noises and gurgling with diarrhea. She has a pretty sensitive stomach but these little tummy aches usually go away within two days. But this one has not gone away and she is now (this is gross but I think it's important to know) licking her butt like crazy! She has diarrhea stains on her butt and she also has a rash now. I went online and they said that pepto-bismol will help, so I have been giving her a 1/2 of a little kids chew able tablet every 6 - 8 hours. Also I tried giving her saltine crackers and boiled white rice but she only takes a few mouth fulls and then won?t eat any more for a while, and obviously she won't eat her dog food. The pepto-bismol has helped her tummy to stop making noises and has made her stool a dark color (this is normal I believe) but it is still diarrhea and she still looks very uncomfortable. Also she has lost a lot of weight. She was never over weight so I?m a little worried that if she continues to not eat she will become under weight. I really want to take her to the vet but my father thinks this will pass like her other tummy aches. So other then taking her to the vet is there anything else I can do to help her? My dog is sick. He wont move?
My dog is probably around 11 years old, he is a shih tzu & i think something else mixed. hes kinda on the fatter side & has like weezing problems. but the last two days he hasnt been him normal self. he yelled yesterday when moving and when you tell him to get up he doesnt do anything. today he actually stood up but stood completely still like he couldnt move. me and my mom dont have the money for a vet but if we lose our dog well be devistated! help! thank you<3

Obama was six years old when he was given dog meat to eat right?
Dogmeat would not be on my menu BUT Obama was six years old. Obama did not willfully kill the dog or torture the dog. Obama was given this to eat. A child is a child and its a big difference than Romney who is supposedly educated (we wonder) and filthy rich. So rich that it matter more about the doghair on the seat of the car then the health and welfare of the poor dog. Anyone with any heart when seeing the dog was sick and had diaherria would have taken the dog down from the roof and insisted he ride like the rest of the family inside the car. No not Romney up on the roof he went. The dog was so abused HE ran away from home. No surprise. People should take heed anyone that willfully abuses an animal is not worth leading our country!
