Explaining Food Allergy Causes - Tips To Steer Clear Of Allergy-causing Food

Everyone loves to eat but most are unaware of the fact the food they have can cause allergies. Foods can look attractive and be tasty too but it certainly is not worth the trouble when we consume such food and discover that we are allergic to them. Food allergies can cause swelling, itching and even death in some cases. Different types of foods can have different reactions in people. Foods like peanuts, and shell fish are known to cause allergies in many people. It is only after they have eaten it for the first time that many people discover that they are allergic to it. People can also develop allergies much later in their lives due to these foods.

The best way to avoid an allergic reaction to a particular food is to avoid the food that caused it in the first place. Though most of the symptoms of food allergies are similar to other allergies like running nose, swelling and watering of eyes, rashes and hives, other symptoms could be headaches caused by sinus infections, hearing problems with pain in the ears. Some food allergies can cause people to have anaphylactic attacks and even be the cause of sudden lowering of their blood pressure, breathing problems and even death.

Those who are allergic to certain foods should first determine what foods are causing allergic reactions in their bodies. Once they have made a list of the foods which they think is causing allergies in them they should avoid those foods in their diet. The doctor would be helpful in helping you to determine the exact food that is causing allergic reactions in your body by getting you to take a skin prick test.

Foods are made up of many ingredients and any one of these could be causing the allergies. So it is best to find out which ingredient is actually causing the allergy so that you can avoid it totally. In supermarkets you can read the labels on the food packets and find out if the particular ingredient that is causing food allergy to you is present. If it is present then it is best to avoid that food. But this is not possible when you eat in restaurants.

Children are the biggest sufferers of food allergies as they normally fail to remember what causes allergies in them and consume the food. If such children have an allergic reaction it is best to get help quickly so that it does not worsen further. A child who is prone to food allergies should wear a medical alert bracelet so that they can be saved if they accidentally consume foods that can cause allergies to them

Doctors say not to...?
My family doctor recommends not giving a baby ANYTHING besides formula for the first 6 months and actually even longer than that. I know that giving food earlier may cause food allergies or stomach problems, but how do you know if you should just go with your gut? I think he needs to start baby food soon at 3 months, he's licking, holding his head up, hes been eating cereal in his bottle since he was 3 weeks old. Formula is just not enough for him he eats 6 oz every 2 hours and screams for more food after he finishes the bottle just 45 minutes later. What?s the rule of thumb? How do I know? What should I do? Breast milk is best and did that for about 3 weeks, had problems, had to stop (baby liked one breast better than the other and I sort of dried up). Only giving him 1 rice ceral bottle. I give 1 teaspoon per oz at bedtime.

What are the main foods that babies should avoid -besides Honey,Peanut Butter,Eggs& tomatoes -Are there others
I will be starting my 4 month old baby ( her Dr. gave permission) on solids in about 2 weeks -I know of the foods I listed that you should not give a baby -what are the others that could potentially cause food allergies?? At what age can these foods be introduced -1 year old or older?? My daughter is 4 mos -yes but also she is 18 pounds -she has been teething for over a month now -she opens her mouth when she watches us eat - and she chews on everything (toys & such) She also can sit up without support for 10 minutes and reaches for food (that we are eating)- the Dr. said all of these are signs that she is ready -but I plan to wait 2 more weeks - she is advanced for her age and is already doing things that 6 month olds do (some of those things she was doing 2months ago!)-the Dr. said its best to go by her personal developement and not buy statistics she is a baby not a chart or textbook- So she IS ready for solids- depriving her of that would not be good for her- since she is not getting full on breastmilk or formula - I have been giving her a little bit of babyrice cereal -and she ate that just fine -but I'm waiting 2 more weeks to introduce jar babyfoods and only gigving the cereal every other day

Three month old has fever of 101, on and off diareah, and rash lasting for over three weeks.?
Our three month old has been sick for over three weeks. We HAVE taken her to the doctor and the emergency room over twelve times since the symptoms started. Her blood work, stool cultures and one urine culture has all came back fine so we know she doesn't have an infection if her white blood cell count is normal. Her doctor is going to send us to a specialist. But what could be causing this? I do breastfeed her, but have cut everything out of my diet that causes food allergies and don't smoke, drink, take any medication, ect. We are at are wits end with worry. Baby acts and appears fine and is hydrated the only constant symptom has been the fever. Any ideas?

Are we so paranoid now a days that we can cause food allergy to our babies?
I have a 6 1/2 month old. Every nurse/drs/books/CDs etc are advising of this and that, what not to do and what to do, when to do it and when not to do it. I've spoken to so many ppl prior to my baby's generation in regards to food. I myself was fed solids at 3-4 months, meat at 6 months, I am fine. I have absolutely no food allergy neither does my husband, my brothers, his brothers. So why is it now ppl are so obsessed with what to do with our newborns? Are we the reason why they are allergic to certain things now because we obsessed on what our drs/their ped tells us???? I bought her organic fruits and she gags at it. Could it be that it's too soon? she's 6 months? she spits it out. I've tried banana, prune and mix fruits. Marriedso...sorry to hear about your baby. 1 month is too early for solids. I've never heard of anyone giving a 1 month old solids. Aww your poor baby. I will pray for her during her surgery. Good luck.
