Benefits Of Frontline Plus For Dogs

Frontline Plus for dogs can change the animal's life for the better, especially if he spends a lot of time outside communicating with nature. The product was developed to eradicate fleas and ticks and all the dangers that they can cause. While your pet may love staying active, these are very real dangers that can lessen the quality and sometimes the length of his life if left untreated. Frontline Plus operates under the idea that the best form of treatment is prevention. While a pet owner can apply the medicine to his dog or cat after fleas and ticks have taken hold, an application of Frontline Plus can also fight off fleas and ticks before they target your pet in the first place.

Fleas can cause great irritation in your canine friend. With itching one of the most common symptoms of flea infestation, Frontline Plus contains chemicals that not only kill the existing species, but also take out any larvae and eggs before they have a chance to develop or hatch. When you take care of a flea problem with Frontline Plus, you put the dog in position to go about his life enjoying the outdoors without all of the aggravation.

Secondly, Frontline Plus takes care of all ticks, which are blood-sucking parasites that can also cause discomfort or disease in canines. Lyme Disease is the most common form that ticks carry, and a dog with lyme disease or a blood infection brought on by an infestation of ticks could lose energy and appetite. In severe cases that go untreated, an overpopulation of ticks have been known to actually kill a dog through adverse effects on its muscles and digestive system.

A third benefit of Frontline Plus is that it can keep dogs away from other damaging effects such as the mange or lice. When an animal becomes affected with either of these irritations, it can become too consumed with the discomfort to enjoy itself or keep a proper diet.

Usually, one application per month during flea and tick season will protect your pet from these hazards as they arise. Application is relatively easy, so it doesn't have to consume too much of your time and energy in a given day, and your pet can get back to doing what he does best.

Frontline Plus for dogs comes in a variety of different colors, but all are equally effective, and with sites like PetNutritionProducts, it's possible to purchase this particular product at a discount rather than paying full price directly from a vet. In rare cases, the animal may have an allergic reaction, in which case, it is advisable to seek immediate medical attention from your local veterinarian and cease the use until instructed to do otherwise.

Using frontline plus and other products to protect your pet is the best way to enjoy a long life with your favorite companion. For more info on pet meds and supplements, check out our site!

Canine Lyme Disease/ Infectious Arthritis? Your experiences?
I brought in a rescue/foster 18m/o Border Collie 4 weeks ago who was unable to sit after 3 days of coming into my house. He came to me tick free but had hundreds of Northern California coastal ticks covering him when he came to the shelter. He also came into rescue with pneumonia so we were unable to get an x-ray to confirm our initial suspicions of being hit by a car. 3 weeks later we gave him an x-ray during his neuter and he showed signs of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, we initially thought maybe malnutrition, poor blood flow, auto-immune or congenital, we never had a known Lyme's disease dog come through our rescue, so Lyme's didn't come to mind until I posted my previous question about osteoarthritis and osteoporosis in young dogs. We are now treating Hops with Doxy for Lyme's based off of symptoms and history. Prior to starting formal treatment within a week of coming into my house he was able to sit, jump and run we were treating his pneumonia with Baytril. Within the past few days we had 2 10-12 week old puppies with "100's of ticks" covering them, we are treating those guys with Doxy as a precaution. Now to my question, has anyone here ever had a dog who had Lyme's disease/ Infectious Arthritis? Did your dog make a full recovery (joint tissue repaired over time) or was the damage just frozen in place once treated. Will this effect quality of life later on? Centrum Silver Multivitamins 1/2 were started within a day of entering rescue. Joint supplements were started the day we saw the x-ray and I assume will need them for life, other suggestions I will be giving to the adopters is a good grain/corn free diet, weight maintenance program, therapeutic swimming and informal therapeutic massages to increase circulation. When the vet saw the x-ray Vet she said there is a less than 50% chance joint damage might recover... but that was before the infectious arthritis dx. False negatives for canine lyme disease?
How often is a false negative given for a lyme disease test in canines? The only tick disease test the vet had available was one that also tested for Heart worms and another tick born disease. Just last weekend we found 2 ticks on my 5 month old puppy. We walked him 2 miles the day after finding the tick, and the next day we were dragging him after 1/2 mile so we cut the walk short. Figuring it was from the heat wave, we didn't pay much attention. The next day he developed a noticeable limp and by that night he wouldn't walk on his back left leg (which was last night). We stayed up with him all night as he was panting and refusing to walk and got him the earliest appointment we could at the vet. The test was "negative all around" but "could be too early to tell" something about the disease hasn't given off enough antibodies to give a positive. He sent us home with rimadyl and a diagnosis of a strained muscle even though he couldn't find one joint or muscle triggering the pain. Does this sound correct, should we have a second opinion? Thanks for your help! -First time puppy mommy

Is it okay to skip the 2nd part of the canine Lyme disease vaccine?
My dog had the 1st part a few weeks ago and is due for the 2nd next week. When she had the 1st part she had a bad reaction including severe swelling and hives. My vet said all I need to do for the 2nd part is give her Benedryl 8 hours before to help prevent anothe reaction. I've read/heard that the Lyme vaccine is not necessary and I'm curious if I can skip the 2nd part even though she's already received the 1st part. I hate for her to go through that suffering again if it's not necessary. I took my dog in for her regular update and that's when the vet recommended the Lyme vaccine. Said it had become an increasing problem and they see Lyme disease more than any other right now. I don't live in a heavily wooded area, but we do go to the dog park once in a while and so I figured it'd be better to get the vaccine just in case. After everything happened, I spoke with some family friends that go to the same vet and he told them that they didn't need the vaccine and most dogs don't get sick even if they get the disease and not to worry about it. This upset me as it's basically the opposite of what he told me. I give my dog regular baths and a whole lot of scratches so I'd probably feel a tick on her if she ever had one. I'm leaning towards not getting the 2nd round of the vaccine at this rate.

What could the death of a dog in my dream have signified?
This morning I woke up and went downstairs and my mom said to my sister that Buster is getting worse. Buster is my cousins boxer who apparently got bitten by a tic and now is suffering from canine Lyme Disease; or that's what the vet thinks. it usually starts with limited mobility of the legs and moves on to affect the heart and joints and lymph nodes. to a point where the dog has a very hard time doing anything, even walking or eating; almost like paralysis. The thing is, though, that I had no previous knowledge of him ever getting bitten or going to the vet for any reason; it's just that nobody happened to tell me. This is where it gets weird. As soon as my mom had said something about Buster getting 'worse', i immediately remembered my dream and relived it in my head. Dream: Last night I was with somebody, i think one of my peers, and we went to my grandmas house into her backyard. for some reason or another, there was a white boxer there who was suffering or something. or that other person who i was with did something to it to put it in pain. either way the dog was lying on the ground motionless and it was pretty much paralyzed. i knew i had to do something to put it out of its misery. this gets sort of graphic and i would never hurt a dog in my life - i start crying when i remembered this(and im a 17 y.o guy) so i took dog and started slamming it in the back of the neck like i was trying to break the spine of something to kill it. it was only getting worse so i kept bashing it then i reached my fingers around his neck and found what i guess was the spinal cord and pinched it and tore it in half so the dog would die and be put out of its misery. thats about the extent of the dream that i remember. i think its weird that my cousins dog buster is almost near paralyzed and god forbid dead at such a young age. then to dream about this young boxer who i had to kill because he was suffering and paralyzed - without having any knowledge of Buster's sickness or anything. then to hear my mom say it about a half hour after i wake up and go downstairs... i dont know. just figured id ask for some input/comments/similar experiences.
